Hey, guys! Guess what? The December gathering has started! Remember, this could chaange the plot, so read it good and be careful what you wish for! Foxpool walked through the forest, listening to the river's rushing babble. She'd chosen Eagletalon and Silver to come with her. Pricking her ears, Foxpool listened to the river some more. The rushing subsided to a trickling, and she came out of the trees and looked down on a low part of the river. The slow water moved between and around the rocky riverbed, just barely covering them. Foxpool noticed a couple larger rocks sticking out of the water. "Come quickly," she called to Eagletalon and Silver. "We'll be able to cross while barely getting our paws wet. The river is too fast closer to the gathering for us to swim it." Foxpool leaped down into the riverbed, and the water accomodated her paws as part of the obstructions it faced, flowing between every single one of her claws and trying unsuccessfully to go over her entire paw. Foxpool crossed, closely followed by Eagletalon and Silver. She led the way through part of Shadow's territory, looking around for a patrol. Foxpool stopped at the top of a hill leading down to the gathering clearing. Foxpool wagged her tail to motion the others that it was safe to go down into the clearing. Foxpool settled on the mossy stone in the center of the clearing, and looked around. The night was dark except for the shining bright Wolf Moon in the center of the sky. Foxpool thought idly how only yesterday the moon had been a Paw Moon, and stretched out on the rock as the moon flooded the clearing with its silver light.

Meanwhile, on Lightning territory, Whisperleaf was setting out to the Gathering area. She had all of her warriors just behind her, and her faithful deputy, Moonfeather, right on her side. Swallowed by the deep darkness, she turned to face her companions. She could tell who was who, but only by the scent. Their faint outlines were only barely in her vision as she did a head check. Silver-Knight was here, as was Moonfeather. The medicine cat and deputy were needed in any gathering. The very nervous wolf gazed at her loyal warriors proudly. "OK," she said in a hardly audible voice. "Before the gathering, don't talk to anyone about Lightning business," she warned. "But don't make it sound like we are too weak." She stood on her hind paws to face them. "Are we ready" she asked. "

silver. The white she-wolf followed her leader, jaws gaped in a wide yawn. She was tired, and hadn't really wanted to come, but she couldn't refuse her leader now could she? She didn't mind much anyway, as long as this Gathering was short she would be just fine. As she stepped into the water, and it swirled around her paws, she looked over at Foxpool, who was already hopping onto the opposite bank. Moving through the water quicker, cutting through the current without much ease but still able to go, she looked over at Eagletalon. He was just behind her, waiting for Silver to step out of the water. She quickly leaped onto dry ground, shaking the water off of her paws. She hated the feeling of wet fur, especially when she was walking. Sighing, she trotted along after Foxpool and followed her into the clearing of the Gathering. She settled down in a grassy corner, laying her head on her paws and awaited the start of the meeting. [/blockquote] ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ sky. The leader of Illusion Pack traveled through her dark forests, brushing against the pine branches when they leaned down in her path. She loved the smell of their scent on her fur, and she was always accompanied by their aroma. Scents aside, she was traveling to the Gathering, with three of her pack's wolves as her companions. She leaped across a fallen log, and came to the edge of the Gathering's clearing. She looked in, and saw that, so far, only Waterfall had arrived. She wagged her tail once, then padded into the clearing, head held high. She passed a white wolf laying in the grass and gave her a nod, then went on past to the Mossy Rock on which the leaders sat to address the Packs. She climbed up, and met Foxpool on top, the leader of Pack Waterfall. She was a red wolf, and quite muscular at that. Blinking at the other she-wolf warmly, she padded forward to sniff her pelt, the traditional greeting between wolves. FOX Foxpool sniffed Sky's head in answer to the greeting, and looked around at the gatherd wolves. "Only three of your pack are here? I suppose that...trouble...you had last month..." Foxpool looked down, embarrassed. It really wasn't any of her business, but a drought could bring down the numbers in Sky's already small pack.
EAGLE Eagletalon settled down on the grass near Silver, and stretched out his muzzle until it was sprawled over the largest amount of ground it could occupy. Right before the gatherings were always the boring bits, when there was nothing to do, and few other pack members to talk to. Lightning nor Shadow had arrived yet, and Sky hadn't brought many wolves with her. "Well, now what..." Eagletalon yawned.

` sky. ` Sky sniffed Foxpool's shoulder a couple times before backing away to sit a few pawsteps away from her. A short silence settled in, but she didn't mind. She lookde over the clearing, noticing the lack of wolves. Worry and anxiety pierced at her, as she noticed that her wolves were skinny and puny, compared to Waterfall's muscular and lush-furred members. The other leader's stuttered words reached her ears, "Only three of your pack are here? I suppose that...trouble...you had last month..." Sky's ears flattened as embarrassment made her fur grow hot. But she replied with a steady and firm voice, her meaning clear in her words. "My pack is still strong, even if it may not be as populated as yours or anyone else's is. We are doing quite fine, thank you. And your pack? How are you faring?" ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ` silver. ` Silver watched as Eagletalon got comfortable in the grass a little but away from her. Not wanting to be alone with no one to talk to, she got up and padded over to him, and sat down, with a friendly wag of her tail. Eagletalon yawned, and said to her, "Well, now what..."
Giving a small laugh, Silver smiled at the male, and replied with sarcastic cheer, "We sit around, bored out of our minds and wait for the spirits to tell us what we can do to pass the time. Now won't that be fun Eagletalon?" She shook herself, making her thick fur rustle. Her fur was useful in winter, but right now, in fur-shed, it didn't help at all. She was constantly uncomfortable, and always hot. Looking over at Eagletalon, she impatiently waited for him to say something. She wished something exciting would happen already, life was getting boring for her.

FOX Foxpool looked back at Eagletalon and Silver. "Well, I suppose I'm a little worried about the lack of apprentices. Every pack is, I'm guessing..." Foxpool's brow furrowed, and she lay silent as she thought about what she would say once other packs got here.
EAGLE "Hmm...I wonder what Foxpool will say about the drought? I doubt she'd be so heartless as to not allow Illusion to get a little water. Who knows...maybe things will resolve themselves at this gathering." Even though a tiny voice in Eagletalon's head whispered, or they could get worse...
MOON Moonfeather peered through the darkness, trying to see the other Lightning wolves. Even though it was a Wolf Moon, it was dark in most parts of Lightning territory, where trees blocked light from reaching the ground. Moonfeather listened as Whisperleaf gave a quick speech. "I'm ready!" Moonfeather howled softly.

` sky. ` "Well, I suppose I'm a little worried about the lack of apprentices. Every pack is, I'm guessing..." Nodding, Sky looked up at the moon, shedding it's cold, silver light on the wolves. The Wolf Spirit had angered her. It had taken away her pack, and her pack was her life. She narrowed her vivid blue eyes at the moon, growling softly. But it was no use, the spirit could do nothing now. It had already taken away too many wolves, too many parts of her life. And all she could do was watch. And so, she looked at the few members of her Pack, and seemed to become smaller, and weaker, an odd trait for the she-wolf, the leader of a once powerful Pack. Was all hope lost for Illusion Pack, like she thought it was? ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ` silver. ` "Hmm...I wonder what Foxpool will say about the drought? I doubt she'd be so heartless as to not allow Illusion to get a little water. Who knows...maybe things will resolve themselves at this gathering." Silver could see the uncertainty on Eagletalon's face, and shook her head. "I don't think Foxpool is cold-hearted. I'm sure she'll let Illusion share some of the water. She and Sky have always been friendly. I'm sure she will be kind enough to do at least that much for her." The white wolf yawned and stretched out on the grass, sneezing when the fronds tickled her nose. Wishing the Gathering would hurry up and just start, she narrowed her eyes at the sky.[/blockquote]

Starvision:
The leader walked proudly toward the gathering place. The cold weather didn't stop her, her pack must be known of. She leads one of the largest packs in the lands, Starvision has connections. When she arrived, she approached Sky, Pack Illusion's leader. Softly, she spoke, "I heard....heard about your deputy's disapearence." Then she nudged the leader's shoulder and walked off. The muse of the gathering seems faint, the drought has strained the lands, and thinking back at her pack, her wolves looked no better than the few surviving members of Illusion.
Silver-Knight:
The small Meddi Wolf traveled behind WhisperLeaf to the place. once there she broke off to find her old friends. The place was littered with weak looking wolves and the promenint looking Waterfall wolves standing at the front of the gathering spot. Disgusted she swung her muzzle around looking strait into the eyes of Sky. The leader did not look good. Turning away once more she found Starvision and began to run toward her old friend, feeling more muse apperear out of no where at the young leader's presence

"No more running." Liaa thought. Trudging through the sleet that layer the ground she was making progress toward the gathering place, hoping that the leaders hadn't moved it during her self inflicted exile. Smelling the air she caught the scent of her leader, Sky and began to follow it. Also amoung the scent of Sky were three of the younger warriors whom she couldn't remember. Breaking throught the leaves and trees she shed her eyes upon the packs for the first time in moons. The Illusion wolves looked quite scrawny compared to the thick muscled Waterfall wolves. No one looked at her but she hoped she was noticed. Bravely, she bagan to walk toward Sky.

Whisperleaf slowly stepped up to meet the other leaders. She touched each of their noses lightly as a greeting. "Hello,'' she said quietly.
*********************
Talonclash looked at his leader, who seemed to be pacing in thought. He scoffed; why wasn't the leader showing the other packs whos boss? He rolled his eyes, and cleaned off his dusty red pelt. It was coated in dirt. Talonclash's untrusting glance swept the clearing. Wolves were everywhere, but not many, surprisingly, were there. The packs were small now, he knew. Sky, a leader, had such a weak clan, he thought to himself bitterly. No deputy, no medicine cat, maybe a few warriors? The warrior didn't see any Illusion wolves attending.

FOX Foxpool dipped her head in greeting to Whisperleaf and Starvision. "Glad to see everyone's here," Foxpool said warmly. "I have a lot to say that you might find interesting," the red wolf's eyes sparkled slightly with excitement. Surveying the wolves, Foxpool noticed that one of them, a warrior, looked angry. Foxpool furrowed her brow. That wasn't good. It was a truce, or at least, it was supposed to be, anyway. Foxpool nervously glanced around, and relaxed when she saw Moonfeather. It was common knowledge that if the current descendant of Moonblaze wasn't worried, no one else should be. In fact, Moonfeather's paws seemed to be glowing slightly silver. Foxpool froze when Moonfeather turned her head to look at her. Had she seen me staring at her paws?? Foxpool thought desperately. But then she noticed how Moonfeather's eyes were vacant, and behind them, another pair of eyes were looking at her. Shivers crawled up Foxpool's spine as a voice spoke in her head. Do not be afraid, Foxpool. All will be well.
EAGLE Eagletalon nodde agreement with Silver. "Hey, look at Talonclash, He doesn't seem too happy, does he?" Eagletalon said, nodding in the direction of a warrior that was surveying the meeting-place with a hard look in his eyes.
MOON Moonfeather looked around. The meeting this month was small. She wondered what Foxpool and the others would say about the drou--. Her thoughts were cut off. Dreamily, Moonfeather stared into space. She was having such a happy dream, of a fur-shed of rain and puddles to splash in and butterflies cavorting through the air like silly pieces of flowers that sprouted wings and learned to fly. I stared at Foxpool. She froze in fear. Then she relaxed, only to freeze again. Ah, good. She had noticed me. Almost imperceptibly, I nodded my descendant's head. --Do not be afraid, Foxpool. All will be well.-- I spoke in her mind.
--ght. Who knew, really? It wasn't as if Moonfeather could read Foxpool's mind. Moonfeather settled down. The gathering was about to begin.

` sky. ` Hearing the Starvision's remark, Sky swung her head around to glare at her venemously. "Have you only come here to taunt me? Keep your noses out of my pack's business, and keep your paws on your own territory. And if you're intentions were only to make me feel bad, I do advise you to stay away from me," she snapped. Her lips drew back into a snarl, her blue eyes aflame with anger. How dare they bring up Liaa? She had been Sky's deputy, so devoted, and then she had disappeared. The Illusion leader still thought of the she-wolf, and she always felt bad that she hadn't tried to help with whatever had been bothering Liaa. Sky turned back around, her jaw set, posture stiff. Then her eyes widened with surprise.
It was as if speaking and thinking about Liaa had brought her to Sky. There was her lost deputy, walking towards her. Her eyes were determined, just as she had remembered her. She leaped down from the Mossy Rock, and looked towards the other she-wolf, patiently awaiting for her deputy to rejoin her. As Liaa's scent drifted towards Sky, she couldn't help but smile at the familiar scent. After so long, she was finally smelling it, and she felt it wrap around her, like a warm blanket. Her old friend was home. Thank you, Wolf Spirit, Sky thought. Thank you. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ` silver. `"Hey, look at Talonclash, He doesn't seem too happy, does he?" Eagletalon wondered, looking over at the other wolf. Turning her head, Silver saw the frustration on his face, then allowed herself a small laugh. "He looks like he has burrs in his nose!" She smiled, then stood up, shaking her fur out into it's regular fluff. Looking over at Eagletalon, she spoke once more. "C'mon, let's go talk to him. Maybe he's just lonely." And with that, she started across the clearing, feeling quite confident in herself. [ooc: Hey, I just realized [that all the [leaders are female! xD]

Liaa noticed her leader begin to move toward her. Nervous now, Lia shifted on her paws, stopped in the middle of a step. "No," Liaa thought. Sky looked excited to see her, but there was nothing in her eyes that could even foreshadow anger, "Sky..." her mer thoughts wandered as her leader approached quickly, it seemed to Liaa that Sky had picked up pace but in reality, she hadn't.
Scared Liaa swiveled her head, refusing to face her leader. Sky would have to know what she had done but, if Starvision found out, Liaa would be forced to 'disappear' again. And that would hurt her leader too much, she looked weak and she wasn't sure if she [/sub] could handle it again. Sky continued to press forward and Liaa decided with a sigh to tell her leader everything, and if fate presumed, leave again]

Talonclash:
He glared around a little at the other wolves. Right as he was about to settle down for a moment, he caught two Waterfall she-cats watching him. They were making their way to him, and he scowled a little. He replaced it with a dark look, and rolled his eyes, looking away.
Whisperleaf:
Whisperleaf, who had looked down, turned to the others as she heard what they were saying. With a little squeak of a voice, she said something unaudibly. SHe cleared her throat, then said a little louder, "Let's not fight... er, the Great Spirits will be angry if the leaders argure." Her faint voice trailed a little.

FOX
Foxpool nodded. "Yes, let's not. The longer we sit here, the less time we have to speak. Let's start the gathering!" Foxpool howled a long, high howl, and all the wolves fell silent. "You go first," Foxpool said, nodding to Sky.
EAGLE
Eagletalon observed Talonclash's reaction and chuckled. "I doubt he wants to be disturbed..." he murmured to Silver, "and besides, the gathering is starting!" Sure enough, the howl for silence pealed through the clearing.
MOON
Moonfeather shook her head, dazed. She was almost certain that something had happened between one thought and the next that didn't quite fit. Moonfeather glanced upward and noticed that Sky was about to speak.
